Cattle imported from Australia arrived safely at the University Farm on 20 September, marking another milestone in the development of the University Farm.
CityU is the first university in Hong Kong to introduce and practice the pioneering concept of One Health and, among all the universities in Asia, pays special attention to animal welfare. CityU has successively established the College of Veterinary Medicine and Life Sciences, the University Farm, and the Centre for Animal Health and Welfare, with a team of world-class experts who conduct relevant teaching and research.
The University Farm, which is one of the very few comparable farms at the institutional level in Hong Kong and Asia designed for similar teaching purposes, offers staff and students world-class facilities for training and learning in veterinary medicine.
The cattle were safely transported from the airport to the University Farm in full compliance with international standards. A team of veterinary professionals based at the University Farm was on hand at all times to take care of the animals. We are delighted that the news about the cattle arriving at the Farm has received overwhelmingly positive feedback from Hong Kong society.
CityU attaches great importance to the development of the University Farm and will continue to work closely with Cornell University to communicate the highly significant concept of One Health and issues related to animal welfare to the University community and the general public. We hope that the general public will collaborate with us on paying attention to One Health and animal welfare.
