The CityU design-a-tiger-mascot competition has received 180 high-quality submissions from more than 150 students, staff and alumni, showcasing the creativity of the CityU community. The latest installment of the President’s Lecture Series: Excellence in Academia titled “Why are we so addicted to cyber worlds? From Tamagotchi to metaverse” was held at CityU on 27 January. Conducted by Professor Matthew Lee, Vice-President (Development & External Relations), the online talk concerns new types of behavioural addiction related to a possible over-reliance on the use of digital technologies. A new partnership between CityU and the major global diagnostics and genetic testing company Prenetics is launched which focuses on large-scale Covid-19 testing for small mammals. This multi-faceted two-stage initiative will provide testing for pets throughout Hong Kong by coordinating veterinary medical procedures between pet owners, testing facilities, and government. HK Tech 300 is now open for Seed Fund and Angel Fund applications.
