The annual alumni magazine City AlumNet is released with the theme “Beyond Boundaries” this year. It highlights University members’ extraordinary achievements and breakthroughs. BA (Hons) Creative Media graduate Ms Phoebe Hui Fong-wah was named Artist of the Year (Media Arts) at the 16th Hong Kong Arts Development Awards. Phoebe is an established local artist whose artworks and papers on art have been showcased at Ars Electronica, the MIT Media Lab, the Metropolitan Museum of Art, and the International Festival of Arts and Ideas. CityU launches the 1st nationwide HK Tech 300 Start-up Competition, which will be held in various regions on the mainland, to further promote start-up entrepreneurship in Hong Kong and mainland China. MSc Computer Science graduate Ms Elsa Wong (黃玉娟) is the Managing Director of NEC Hong Kong Limited, a leading Japan-based technology company specialising in providing one-stop solutions and services for various industries. A seminar titled “Future & Foresight Talk – A Future Ready Generation” will be held on 7 July 2022, organised by CityU SCOPE with Mr John Tsang Chun-wah (Former Financial Secretary of Hong Kong) as the keynote speaker. Professor Sun Dong, Chair Professor and Head of the Department of Biomedical Engineering at CityU, has been elected as a Fellow of the International Academy of Medical and Biological Engineering (IAMBE) for his outstanding achievements in robotics and biomedical engineering. Read More>>

Professor Joe Qin Sizhao, Dean and Chair Professor of the School of Data Science and Director of the Hong Kong Institute of Data Science, has become the first scholar educated in mainland China to receive the 2022 CAST Computing in Chemical Engineering Award, which recognises his contributions in the field. School of Creative Media (SCM) alumnus Mr Vivek Mahbubani received the 2nd SCM Distinguished Alumni Award. As a well-known stand-up comedian and artist, Vivek has brought laughter and energy to the community in Hong Kong and across the world.
