CityU signed Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) with six venture capital and investment funds from the mainland on 14 July, providing around RMB 1 billion in investment to promising HK Tech 300 start-ups. Jointly organised by CityU, China Tourism Group Corporation Limited [China Travel Service (Holdings) Hong Kong Limited], and Poly Art Museum, an exhibition titled “The Grand Gathering of the Century: Zodiac Heads from the Yuanmingyuan and Important Treasures” is being held until 31 October at the Indra and Harry Banga Gallery. In Phase I (until 31 August), four original zodiac heads from the Yuanmingyuan of the Qing imperial court are exclusively presented. Book a visit now.

BSc Computer Studies graduate Mr Wan Wai-yin (温偉然) is now Chief Information Officer at MTR Corporation Limited. Through the studies at CityU and internships at multinational technology companies, Wai-yin has developed a meticulous and logical problem-solving approach, and fostered a global vision. These experiences have laid a solid foundation for his successful leadership role in IT and corporate management. Read More>>

Congratulations to DBA graduate Ir Dr Barry Lee (李志康) for being elected as the 49th President of the Hong Kong Institution of Engineers. He has set for Session 2023/2024 the theme "We Engineer, We Serve", which emphasises the integration of knowledge and practice for serving the people and society with engineers' professional values and skills.

Research projects led by CityU scientists Professor Luk Kwai-man, Head and Chair Professor in the Department of Electrical Engineering, as well as Professor Huang Yu, Head, Chair Professor and Jeanie Hu Professor in the Department of Biomedical Sciences, have secured significant grants in both the Areas of Excellence Scheme and the Theme-based Research Scheme funded by the Research Grants Council. Ms Liu Xiaoyuan, PhD student in the Department of Electrical Engineering, beat over 300 candidates and won the Top Ten Academic Youth Award for Metamaterial Postgraduate. She developed a series of novel meta-devices that provides lighter and more flexible solutions for aerial, land, and underwater application scenarios. Read More>>

Alumni together with their families and friends are welcome to register for “CityU Organic Farming Series: Talk on Home Planting Tips” organised by the Convocation on 30 July to gain useful tips for growing plants at home.
