Mr Ong Siew Gay, the Consul General of Singapore in Hong Kong, led a delegation to visit CityU on 10 October. During the visit, Mr Ong met with President Freddy Boey to explore collaboration opportunities between Singapore and CityU. Five young academics at CityU have been awarded the Excellent Young Scientists Fund (Hong Kong and Macau) by the National Natural Science Foundation of China for 2023. They are Professor Dong Yining, Professor He Yukun, Professor Wang Shubo, Professor Wu Wei and Professor Zhu Zonglong. Each awardee will receive funding of RMB 2 million. Learn More>>

CityU Alumni Reunion Gala 2023, organised by the Alumni Relations Office (ARO) in October, marked the 20th anniversary of the Alumni Ambassador Scheme at CityU. A series of events, including reunions, seminars and visits, were arranged for CityU alumni and students to celebrate the spirit of "Caring by Serving" that has been at the core of the scheme since its establishment in 2003. Learn More>>

Congratulations to Professor Jennifer Lin and Professor Alfred Ho from CLASS for their recent achievements. Professor Lin received the NETPAC Award for the Best Asian/Pacific film at the 39th Warsaw International Film Festival; while Professor Ho has been elected as a Fellow to the National Academy of Public Administration, being the only Fellow elected from Asia this year.

Speaking at a distinguished lecture at CityU on 6 October, Professor Jeffrey Sachs, US economist and City honorary doctorate, highlighted that new politics for sustainable development based on peaceful global cooperation are urgently needed to tackle the global crises we collectively face.
