The celebrations marking the 30th anniversary since CityU achieved university status began at a ceremony on 11 January. The occasion also marked the establishment of a farsighted initiative called the CityU Academy of Innovation. CityU reinforced its commitment to promoting a healthy and active lifestyle in the university community with the Exercise is Medicine On-Campus (EIM-OC) Prelude cum CityU Delegation – Standard Chartered Hong Kong Marathon (SCHKM) 2024 Flag Presentation Ceremony on 16 January. His unwavering belief in the uniqueness and potential of every student has received wide acclaim. Professor Charles Xu Chunbao, Chair Professor of Advanced Biorefinery in the School of Energy and Environment at CityU, has been awarded the Humboldt Research Award 2023 in recognition of his research and academic achievements.
