As a world-leading university for professional education and problem-based research, City University of Hong Kong (CityU) focuses strongly on community engagement through our Strategic Plan.
In keeping with our community-oriented spirit, we are very pleased to announce that we are introducing the University Day (U-Day) to be held on the third Friday of March each year.
Moreover, to promote the University spirit at this inaugural U-Day, President Way Kuo suggested we create a University Mascot that will embody our wisdom, energy, dynamism and strength. Senate approved adopting a Tiger as our mascot and the suggestion was later discussed at a Council meeting.
The overall aim of U-Day is to share news about our latest developments and achievements with the general public and the greater CityU family. It will enable stakeholders to get to know the University even better and dispel any outdated preconceptions. The idea has been developed from the “campus open day” concept common to universities around the world.
An inauguration ceremony will be held at the first U-Day, which will take place on 18 March 2022, and a range of supporting activities will be rolled-out during the week to help gather momentum and set the right ambience. Events will include an alumni homecoming, a popular science lecture, a HK Tech 300 workshop, and an open day for students interested in applying to CityU. As you may expect, the ceremony and supporting activities will take an online format because of the pandemic.
Details about the U-Day inauguration ceremony and other supporting activities can be found in the link.
Thank you.
