About the Programme

HK Tech 300 is a large-scale flagship innovation and entrepreneurship programme organised by City University of Hong Kong (CityU) for aspiring entrepreneurs among CityU students, alumni, research staff and others* to launch start-ups and ignite their entrepreneurship journey. The programme aims to create 300 start-ups in three years, providing educational and growth opportunities for CityU students, and translating CityU research results and intellectual properties into practical applications.

I. Recruitment

Info Sessions and Networking Sessions will be organised to facilitate the project team formation.

II. Training - Sponsored Training (worth HK$10,000)

A Training Phase will be organised, during which participants learn how to kick start their entrepreneurial journey from scratch, develop a business plan and deliver a pitch. The training programme is worth more than HK$10,000 for each project team.

Upon completion of the Training, the project teams can apply for CityU’s HK Tech 300 Seed Fund and proceeding to the Seeding Phase.

III. Seeding - HK$100,000 Seed Fund

Participants can apply for HK Tech 300 Seed Fund. Each successful team will receive seed funding of HK$100,000 for developing innovative ideas into start-ups.

At the end of the 6-12 month funding period, eligible teams will be recommended to compete for the HK Tech 300 Angel Fund up to HK$1 million.

IV. Incubating - HK$1 million Angel Fund

An angel fund investment up to HK$1 million is available for each start-up selected at the Incubation Phase for developing and validating a business model.

V. Launching - HK$10 million External Funds

At the end of the Incubation Phase, eligible start-ups will be recommended to receive financial support from external funds of up to HK$10 million to grow successful tech ventures. External funds include TSSSU and Research Talent Hub (RTH) from the Innovation and Technology Fund (ITC), and incubation programmes from the Hong Kong Science and Technology Parks Corporation (HKSTP), Hong Kong Cyberport Management Company Limited (Cyberport), other strategic partners and supporting organisations.

Recruiting & Training
Info talks and networking events to facilitate project team formation. All eligible participants will be sponsored for a training programme worth HK$ 10,000 per team
Seeding
Each selected team will be granted a seed fund of HK$ 100,000 to develop innovative ideas into a start-up
Incubating
Business plan pitching, IP licensing, minimum viable product (MVP). Selected start-ups will receive an angel fund investment of up to HK$ 1 million to develop and validate a business model
Launching
Eligible start-ups can receive financial support from external funds (e.g. ITC, HKSTP and Cyberport) up to HK$ 10 million to develop successful ventures
