Freshmen were warmly welcomed on 29 August at an eventful ceremony that marked the beginning of a meaningful academic experience. President Professor Freddy Boey delivered a heartfelt greeting to encourage students to venture beyond textbooks and exams. Four illustrious persons will be conferred the title of Honorary Doctorate by CityU at a ceremony on 6 October in recognition of their significant contributions to education and the well-being of society. CityU graduates of Class 2022 achieved a remarkable full-time employment rate of 97%, the highest among the eight UGC-funded universities for the second consecutive year. It is also a new record high of CityU’s employment figures in the decade. Read More>>

Two alumni of the School of Creative Media (SCM) were honoured at the 17th Hong Kong Arts Development Awards by Hong Kong Arts Development Council. Mr Gaybird Leung (梁基爵), graduate of MPhil Creative Media was named Artist of the Year (Media Arts), and Mr Howard Cheng (鄭智禮), BA Creative Media won the Award for Young Artist (Media Arts). The CityU GPT Chatbot will be launched in the 2023/24 academic year at CityU in response to the rapid development of generative AI. It will support faculty, staff and students in teaching, learning and administrative activities and assist eight HK Tech 300 start-ups in expanding outside Hong Kong during the first phase of launching. A delegation from the Dongguan Songshan Lake Hi-Tech Industrial Development Zone visited CityU on 24 August. The delegation led by Mr Liu Wei, Deputy Secretary of the Dongguan Municipal Party Committee and Secretary of the Songshan Lake Party Working Committee, was warmly greeted by CityU representatives including President Professor Freddy Boey. BSc Information Technology graduate Ms Candy Liu (廖潔珊) is the Strategic Global Account Lead at Microsoft Limited. Her dedicated contributions to IT/IoT industry have made her a figurehead in advancing diversity and inclusion for women leaders in the field.
