CityU Graduates Among Hong Kong’s Most Employable

An achievement of another year made with the joint efforts by colleagues of Colleges and Schools, Career and Leadership Centre (CLC) of Student Development Services (SDS), and our employer partners, I am delighted to share with all members of CityU community that our graduates continue to excel in the job market and are among Hong Kong’s most sought after in the minds of employers.

The recently released data of the ‘Employment Situation of Graduates of Full-time UGC-funded Undergraduate Programmes by University, 2021/22’ by the University Grants Committee (UGC) showed that the full-time employment rate of CityU graduates of Class 2022 further rose to 97%, the highest among the 8 UGC-funded universities for the second consecutive year after a chart-topping 96.6% in the 2020/21 survey. It is also a new record high of CityU’s employment figures in the decade.

In addition, our graduates’ average annual salary was $268K, around 10% higher than the figure of last year. The CityU graduates' underemployment rate in 2022 was further lowered to 1.5% from 1.9% in 2021, continued to remain the lowest not only among the 8 universities, but also in CityU’s own records in the decade.

The results have reaffirmed that CityU graduates are well-equipped with the knowledge, skills, innovative curiosity and global perspectives essential for them to make a positive landing and thrive in their careers, and employers have taken note of their vast potentials and talents. There is surely a lot more to look forward to as we continue to provide world-leading all-rounded learning experience to our students for both career success and personal growth, and I thank you all for sharing my excitement and commitment in this University-wide collaborative effort to nurture young, bright calibres for our Hong Kong society and beyond.
