CHASS graduates offer simple “ABC” advice

Wednesday, March 31st, 2010

When it comes to choosing a career, students should consider the importance of appropriate “ABC”, i.e., (A) ttitude, (B) ehaviour and (C) ommitment, in both study and work, and the need to consider both their own interest and competence. That was the timely advice of three College of Humanities and Social Science (CHASS) alumni who shared their personal experiences at the annual CHASS Alumni Dinner organised by the College’s  Think Tank on Undergraduate Education. The fun event, held on 19 March at City Top Restaurant (CityU), brought together more than 150 alumni, professors and current Years 2 and 3 students of CHASS.

Following the formal inauguration of the Second Standing Committee (SC) in February, our SC members are working on this year’s Convocation action plan, including revamping our homepage. Details will be announced when ready.

Members have also been supporting the University through participation in various CityU ceremonies, forums and suchlike. We were delighted to meet alumni and students at the events listed below.

We treasure the opportunities to get together with our current and future members as a means to understand their needs and aspirations. It is our ultimate hope to bond the entire alumni community to support the development of our Alma Mater, and we look forward to seeing you in the near future!

Last but not least, we wish you a joyful Easter holiday ahead!

What is Convocation?

It works towards promoting the objectives and activities of the University.

The Chairman and Standing Committee members of the Convocation are elected by and from the members of the Convocation.

The latest CityU Alumni Forum held on 23 March attracted around 100 alumni and friends who were treated to some timely advice on investment strategies. Five top-notch panelists, a professor and four graduates from the CityU family, provided a wealth of insights on the property, stock and currency markets that generated some lively exchanges with participants.  The evening proved to be a huge success full of fun and a great opportunity for networking and renewing friendships.
