Alumni networks abroad continue to flourish!

Monday, February 27th, 2012

The Alumni Relations Office (ARO) successfully held four reunions for non-local alumni in February – in the cities of Shenzhen (18th), Brisbane (23rd), Sydney (25th) and Melbourne (26th). Once again the gatherings demonstrated the close kinship and shared experiences of so many CityU graduates that bond us wherever we might settle in the world.

Special thanks go to our enthusiastic non-local alumni ambassadors for supporting the University’s international alumni networks, and in particular offering support to newly-arrived alumni and exchange students.

ARO is planning the next alumni reunion in Beijing in the evening of 26 May (Saturday). So if you’re in the region, please mark your diary and encourage your fellow alumni in Beijing and neighbouring cities to do the same! More details will be available soon at ARO homepage.

New column unveils creativity of alumni

Thursday, January 26th, 2012

Throughout the years, CityU has been a cradle for talents across a diverse range of disciplines. From this issue onwards, your monthly e-newsletter will feature a new column called 輕描淡寫 to showcase the talents and versatility of CityU alumni. Such works include photography, writings and comics that express creativity, appreciation for humanities and observation of daily life. We hope the creations of each talented alumnus, whose works will be featured in three consecutive issues, will strike a chord among readers and inspire us to see things from a refreshing perspective amid the hustle and bustle of city life. Check out the photography from Joseph Tsoi (BA (Hons) Business Studies (1994)) in this new column.

It’s been a year since the Convocation set up its Convocation Facebook Fan Page, and it continues to grow. The Page has become a virtual hub where fellow alumni, whether they are in Hong Kong or further afield, can stay connected with the Convocation, read about upcoming events and learn the latest news about the University and Convocation. You can also relive the joyful moments of Convocation activities in the photo album, and maybe you can even find your former classmates in our photos! For those who are eco-conscious, don’t forget to share your green tips across the alumni community through our Fan Page.  If you still haven’t joined us yet, act NOW.  We hope you will “LIKE” it!

Three outstanding alumni – Dilys Chau Suet-fung, David Hui Yip-wing and Dr Raymond Leung Siu-hong – have been honoured with the Distinguished Alumni Award, presented at the 2nd biennial award ceremony on 13 October.  The Award is designed to recognise and publicly honour outstanding alumni for their remarkable achievements and contributions to their professions, CityU and the community.  Learn more about the Award recipients and the ceremony HERE.
