Organised by the CityU EngD Society, the “Tea Culture Seminar – from Tea to Business Philosophy” (由茶道到商道) was held on 16 April 2011. With experts who shared insights on tea culture from different perspectives, the Seminar attracted an attendance of some 100 participants who enjoyed the sharing of the relationship between Chinese tea culture and the society, the benefits of Chinese tea on health, etc. The participants were also impressed by the onsite tea demonstration, followed by group discussions of specific topics on tea culture and business philosophy.

校友情誼無分地域、久而彌堅

蔡寶芳(Stella) 修讀了城大和上海交通大學合辦的課程,後取得城大工商管理碩士學位。 Stella跨越中港兩地,在入讀城大工商管理碩士課程之前,她在國際會計事務所KPMG工作了11年。其間七年在香港,三年在上海,一年在北京。城大MBA畢業之後,她成為一間香港會計師事務所的合夥人,公司主要業務涉及審計和稅務。

Stella在MBA課程中,除了學術之外,於其他方面亦大有收穫。她說:『我們上課時充滿喜悅和期待!』同學來自兩岸三地,增進彼此的交流,而且團隊合作緊密無間,各顯所長:有的擅長搜集資料、有的善於整合,有的擅長展示和表達。精於審計的Stella則負責最後的編排審定。Stella認為同學們為她打開了一扇門。令原本內斂的她不懼怕提出問題。她了解到最重要是信心。在課程間休息時,同學們經常就課題進行辯論。Stella認為辯論有助訓練表達能力,也有助培養人際間的溝通能力,是一項很好的活動。現今在公司裡,她也鼓勵同事們有需要時進行辯論。

正因上學時的愉快經歷,Stella在畢業後仍常與同學相聚。同班同學的年齡跨度很大,但大家都互相照顧。在課程的最後階段,同學一起到香港為項目做準備,進行討論,著實是一次美好回憶。這些共同經歷讓他們緊緊相連。在上海的時候,她一直和校友們保持聯絡,而同學也珍惜彼此的情誼,恆常相聚。 Stella回到香港工作後,偶因工事踏足上海,只需一通電話,同學們都會來相會。對大學組織的校友活動,Stella也全力支持。

Stella所在的會計師事務所非常注重實習生的中英文語言水平。對於想到國內發展的同學,她認為謙虛、團結、尊重和相互包容最為重要。

Organized by Alumni Relations Office (ARO), the “Reception for Mainland Fresh Graduates” held on 20 April 2011 on campus had a full house where over 100 Mainland graduates-to-be gathered together. 

IMG_3803The programme started off with Ms Kathy Chan, Associate Vice-President (Alumni Relations) who warmly welcomed them to a global alumni family including a flourishing Mainland network. Featuring a slideshow with photos from past Mainland alumni events, she encouraged attending students to follow in the footsteps of their seniors who have actively taken part in programmes organized by ARO and volunteered to serve the University. The programme moved on to an intensive sharing of tips by 9 alumni guests. They included Mr Lu Yagang (Master of Business Administration), Mr Yang Yang (BBA Electronic Commerce), Ms He Yaner (BBA Finance), Mr Miao Yi (BA Public & Social Administration), Ms Wu Lingchao (BA Creative Media), Mr Pan Fuqing (BA Translation and Interpretation), Mr Qiu Jie (BBA Information Systems), Ms Xu Yujie (MPhil Electronic Engineering) and Mr Jiang Wenxuan (BEng Information Engineering). The participants were overwhelmed with joy on that evening and treasured the alumni sharing session which gave them much insight into their career development plans.
