Some 80 alumni and students attended the CityU Alumni Regatta 2010 held by the CityU Rowing Team Alumni Association on 28 March.  The exciting races took place in perfect sunny conditions on the waters near the Sha Tin Rowing Centre.  After the intense competition, the rowers celebrated with a lavish buffet lunch together.

The Department of Management is inviting applications for MA in Global Business Management (MAGBM) and MSc in Organisational and Change Management (MSOCM). MAGBM is a specialist master’s course to equip students with skills and insights needed to smoothly conduct business across political, economic, and cultural spectrums. MSOCM is designed to help managers enhance their ability to achieve their business objectives by providing the knowledge and skills needed to develop, retain, and manage subordinates.

Reunion rekindles spirit of Marathon

More than 180 alumni, students and staff who ran in or supported this year’s Hong Kong Marathon held a Reunion Dinner on 10 April. The gathering rekindled the comradeship and sense of achievement among the 73 CityU runners. Prizes were presented to the leaders in each category, who shared their great experiences with all the participants.

The Endeavour Awards, a part of the Australia Awards initiative announced by the Prime Minister in November 2009, is the Australian Government’s internationally competitive, merit-based scholarship program providing opportunities for citizens of Hong Kong and Macau (including undergraduate students and alumni of CityU) to undertake study, research and professional development in Australia. Awards are also available for Australians to do the same abroad.

The Community Chest is thankful to the contribution dedicated by the First Standing Committee last year. On behalf of the Convocation, Second Standing Committee member Allen Ho (centre, pictured with Stanley Yeung, left, and Anson Chan of the Flag Day Organising Committee) received a certificate at the Community Chest Flag Day Cheque and Award Presentation Ceremony on 14 April.

What is Convocation?

The University Convocation, which comprises all graduates of the University, is a statutory body formed in accordance with the University Ordinance (Statute 10) aiming to strengthen and promote the relationships among members of the Convocation, between the Convocation and the University, and between the University and the general public. It works towards promoting the objectives and activities of the University.

The Chairman and Standing Committee members of the Convocation are elected by and from the members of the Convocation.
