Tuesday, September 27th, 2011

Since the launch of the Alumni Ambassador Scheme (AAS) in 2003, over 1,400 alumni have joined up and exemplified the “Caring by Serving” spirit by providing voluntary services to their Alma Mater.

This issue we continue to feature the Alumni Ambassadors’ Stories Collection. Let’s tune in the stories of our Alumni Ambassadors, Savio Wong, Amanda Wu and Yo Yo Lui and learn their impressive voluntary service experiences in their respective voluntary services!

Enthusiastic alumni leaders from various alumni associations shared mutual updates at the “Sharing Session with Alumni Association Leaders” co-hosted by the Alumni Relations Office and the Convocation on 15 September. Mr CK Chan from EMBA Alumni Association, Mr Peter Ho from CityU Eminence Society and Mr Sam Kung of Management Sciences Alumni Association took the initiative to share their fruitful association experiences, followed by an interactive discussion among the participants. The alumni leaders also iconized creatively on how to “unite alumni to support University development”, a common goal cherished by all, through improvised drawing. Retrieve the joyful moments HERE.

Students to call alumni in affinity campaign

Tuesday, September 27th, 2011

Students joining the 5th Telephone Affinity Campaign from 4th July to 9th August showed that they were glad to have an enriched summer holiday which was filled with happy chats with their alumni fellows. The callers contacted about 3,000 alumni to share latest development in CityU and to seek their support. They also took the opportunity to update contact details to help strengthen the relationship with their alma mater. This year’s campaign generated around HK$0.42 million to support student development initiatives.

“Talking with alumni is such an unforgettable experience,” said caller Hebe Leung. “They shared their work experience with me and encourage me to grasp every opportunity to learn.” Another caller Issac Chun would like to thank all alumni for their generous support to CityU. “We are so proud to be a member of CityU community with so many caring alumni. Their support to the University means much more than monetary!”

In addition to devoting their spare time to make the calls, all participating students supported the campaign with their own donations and joined the Alumni Giving Club.
