CityU graduate Mr Francis Ngai (BA Quantitative Analysis for Business) introduced the global perspective of the development of social innovation at the Business Leader Forum of the Department of Marketing held on 6 February on campus. The talk attracted some 300 participants.

Francis, a recipient of the “Ten Outstanding Young Persons 2011”, shared his aspiration of establishing Social Ventures Hong Kong, a non-profit philanthropic organisation supporting social enterprises in Hong Kong by providing financial, intellectual and network resources.

He hopes to promote young professionals’ participation in social entrepreneurship and social innovation through the platform of Social Ventures Hong Kong.

In the talk, Francis highlights some of the projects of his organisation including “Diamond Cab” and the awarding-winning “Concert in the Dark”, which illustrate how marketing and business play a vital role in social innovation and make a difference in society.
