Convocation serves as a significant link between the University and its growing band of alumni. In line with this, Convocation has actively participated in a number of strategic University initiatives and the Standing Committee members proactively served on a number of organizing committees and selection panels to channel opinions on behalf of the alumni body.

In April, Vice-Chairman Mr William Khoo attended a meeting convened by the Advisory Committee on Graduate Employment to discuss student and graduate employment issues. In addition, Convocation Chairman Miss Karmen Chan once again participated in the selection panel for the Alumni Civility Hall (Hall 3) JUMP Scholarships. The scholarships are awarded to students who have excelled in academic performance and contributed to the Alumni Civility Hall.

In May, Karmen took part in a meeting of the University’s 30th Anniversary Organizing Committee to brainstorm on the forthcoming celebrations, and she was also invited as a member of the AC3 Opening Ceremony Review Group to conduct a review on the Ceremony held on 6 May. In addition, Vice-Chairman Mr Robert Lui joined the 2013 Congregation Organizing Committee on behalf of Convocation to give feedback from the alumni perspective.
